Are you a generalist?
CMF Global is hosting a series of interactive online training modules. These will be collaborative, with teaching, small group work, questions and feedback. This year we’re aiming these at generalists looking for more specialist teaching. There will be time to get to know one another and the subject more thoroughly.

Event Details
RASH is a day course for all health professionals who want to support the health, system and spiritual needs of refugees and asylum seekers in the UK.
God calls us to care for the stranger in our midst, to protect orphans and widows, to ‘act justly and love mercy’. (Micah 6:8) How does this translate to the way we care today?
Over the past 20 years, hundreds of thousands of refugees have come to the UK, with many seeking asylum. The ‘Refugees and Asylum Seekers Health Course’ (RASH) aims to equip Christian healthcare practitioners and others to:
- Improve knowledge of the healthcare needs, responses and challenges for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK
- Hear examples of good practice
- Foster a dialogue among those working with refugees and asylum seekers for mutual encouragement and support
- Inspire creative ways to engage with health systems for better provision, support, and care
The programme is an interactive learning experience led both by those who have been refugees and those who are healthcare professionals in this field. Local charities or churches working with refugees and asylum seekers will also find this day useful. If you encounter people from outside the UK in your everyday practice, then this is the day for you.

You are invited to an online gathering to pray for the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. This event provides a space for our community of believers to unite in faith, lifting our hearts and voices to God for peace and healing.
Participants will have the opportunity to join small prayer groups and hear firsthand updates from members involved in healthcare work in the region.
Thank you to everyone who has supported previous CMF prayer calls.
Upon registering for the event, you will receive a Zoom link via email on the day of the meeting. We look forward to coming together in prayer and fellowship.

A Celebration of Limitation
If you’re not ‘busy’ are you even doing life properly?
Ultimately, busyness means living at our limits—and those limits can feel restricting. So, we use time, energy, money, and technology in a constant effort to overcome our limits. Those we can’t overcome we fight, those we can’t fight, we’re told to accept. Which is all rather like a patient receiving a cancer diagnosis: ‘I’m sorry to tell you, but you’re limited’.
But what if human limits aren’t a bug, but a feature of our humanity? What if learning to live well in God’s world actually means learning to love our limits as our (unlimited) God’s (limited) creatures? That’s what we’ll spend some time considering this weekend, with help from the wisdom of Ecclesiastes, and the glory of Christ.
Matt Lillicrap will be the main speaker. He originally studied medicine in Newcastle and worked around the Northern Deanery. He has been a medical registrar, then a pastor and seminary tutor and is now CEO of the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF).
£170 standard rate for CMF members once £130 places sold out

Do you have questions about faith at work?

- Is it good medicine?
- Is it practical?

- How can I learn more?
The medical literature increasingly recognises the important link between spirituality and health. Yet many Christian health professionals feel frustrated by the challenge of integrating faith and practice within the time constraints and legal obligations of the workplace. GMC guidelines approve discussions of faith issues with patients provided it is done appropriately and sensitively.
Christians are called to be ‘the salt of the earth’ flavouring life with grace and truth. Saline Solution is a one-day course designed to help Christian healthcare professionals become more comfortable addressing a person’s spiritual needs in a clinical context. There is a mixture of teaching and small group discussion.
The course will take place from 10:30 (UK time) on Saturday, 8 February 2025 at The Crypt, Woodlands Church, Belgrave Road, Bristol, BS8 2AA. Please arrive by 10:15 for a prompt start – refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.Â
The entrance to The Crypt is down a lane off Belgrave Road just behind the church.
Getting to Woodlands church:
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
There are regular buses that pass near Woodlands, with the nearest stops being outside BBC Broadcasting House on Whiteladies Road. Clifton Down train station is also a 5-minute walk away and has regular links with Bristol Temple Meads.
PARKING
There are several nearby streets with free parking on Saturdays including Aberdeen Road and Cotham Gardens. On weekends, the church also has access to the car park of Hampton House / University of Bristol, accessed from lane off Tyndall’s Park Road. Car park is on the left and steps lead down from into Woodland Road via the Chaplaincy car park (which is private, so please do not park there).
The nearest public car park is in Clifton Down Shopping Centre, about 5 minutes’ walk from church.
CYCLING
There are bike racks provided by the main entrance.

Christians in Healthcare Leadership Day Conference March 8th 2025
Leading in a modern Health Service (such as the NHS) is hard, and full of difficult, ‘less than ideal’ decisions, all made in the chaotic circumstances of policy changes, limited money, insufficient staff and surging and uncertain demand, yet for those working there this is:
‘The place that God has put us’ – to bring his values and ways.
Join us on March 8th from 10 am to 4:30 pm as we work through the challenges of being a Christian in healthcare leadership, in all its chaos. See the programme for further details.

Encountering God in ordinary placesÂ
Where was Moses when the Lord appeared to him? Well, he wasn’t in a religious building, a temple, or a designated place for worship. And it wasn’t on a holy day. He wasn’t seeking God or expecting to meet him. And yet, on an average day in the wilderness, whilst tackling the unglamorous job of herding sheep, God catches his attention. And he encounters Yahweh right there. Right then. In his ordinary place.Â
Fast-forward to 2025. Do we still expect to meet God in our everyday? Could we notice him at work in our staff room culture? Could he reveal himself to us whilst we’re in the sluice? With reports showing that nurses and midwives are working in increasingly toxic environments under high stress levels, it might feel like we’re in a sparse wilderness. But we are not alone. At NAMfest, we have an opportunity to slow down, make space to worship and reflect, as well as pray and eat together with like–minded Christians. As we hear testimonies from members across our fellowship, we hope that faith will rise in us again to expect to meet God in our working environments.Â
Cost:Â Â
£85 for full NAMfest (£65 for students)Â
£50 for Friday day only includes lunchÂ
Programme timings:Â
Registration and access to rooms is from 3.30 pm on Thursday 15, with the first session starting at 5 pmÂ
For day delegates, we start at 9.15 am on Friday 16Â
NAMfest finishes at 5 pm on Fri 16, but please consider staying for National Conference, if you can, from 16-18 May.Â

Hold fast – navigating cultural storms with JesusÂ
In the rapidly shifting landscape of twenty-first-century healthcare, Christian doctors and nurses in the UK face unique challenges that test their faith, integrity, and professional calling. There is increasing pressure to compromise our values and more restrictions on our Christian freedoms. The temptations are either to blend in or to withdraw.Â
The lives of Daniel and his companions were shaped by a firm conviction of the sovereignty of God and confidence in his ultimate victory. They exemplified a balance that is crucial for us today, staying faithful to God while actively contributing to the world around us. We are similarly called both to stand firm in our convictions and to engage fully in the society in which we live.Â
In three talks, our speaker, Peter Saunders will examine Daniel’s resolve to stand firm in his identity, his reliance on God for wisdom, and his boldness in witness, even in the face of trials. Peter will look at how this enabled him faithfully to navigate the ethical, emotional, and spiritual challenges of serving God in a ‘Babylon’ hostile to his faith and values.Â
Speaker: Peter Saunders is a New Zealand-born general surgeon who worked in NZ and Kenya before doing theological training at All Nations Christian College, UK. He left clinical medicine in 1992 to serve for 27 years with the Christian Medical Fellowship, 19 as CEO. During this time, he also spent 13 years in end-of-life advocacy as Director of the Care Not Killing Alliance. Since 2019, he has been Chief Executive of the International Christian Medical & Dental Association (ICMDA), bringing together 107 national associations of Christian doctors and dentists worldwide.Â
PLENARY SESSION (Saturday evening):Â Â Finding ways to thrive in the health serviceÂ
Drawing encouragement from the letter that God instructed the prophet Jeremiah to send to those in exile in Babylon (including Daniel and his friends), we will consider how we might thrive and even influence the places we study and work in the health service.Â
This will be an interactive session with space for worship, reflection, discussion, and prayer and will include a diverse range of voices and experiences of some of those working across healthcare.Â
YOUTH & CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME Â
This year’s programme will be led by a team of passionate and dedicated YWAM (Youth with a Mission) workers who are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of young participants. Â
They will organise the young people in age groups, creating activities that inspire each child to live a life of purpose and meaning. Â
They believe that every child is unique and has a God-given purpose. YWAM is committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment where they can discover and develop their talents and abilities.  Â

Are you involved or interested in global health and mission?
Keen to both share and learn from lessons in the past but consider how European-trained healthcare professionals can partner in medical mission in the future?
Who should come?
Perhaps you have been engaged previously in global health and mission work? Come and learn how needs are changing – share your experiences and learn how you could remain interested and involved.
And what if you are just starting out in your career in healthcare? What a perfect time to come and learn with other European colleagues some pointers for effective collaborative ways of working with national colleagues in global health and mission
We will have mission leaders helping us think biblically on such issues, clinical practitioners from whom we can learn, agencies that can facilitate your journey, inspiring stories, and come with your questions, concerns, hopes and dreams!
Christians across Europe will be gathering to consider how we partner in medical mission today. This event will be hosted in north west London, with easy access to tube lines from central London and to Heathrow or Luton airports.
